Ron Kimball, PhD

My practice is a collaboration between myself and those who come to see me. I have been trained in psychodynamic, existential, humanistic, and cognitive/behavioral modalities and tend, nowadays to use Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT) both as a basis for the work and as an organizing theory for my thinking. This means I see people as “stuck” not broken and I believe that we can all learn to mindfully attend to the ways our thinking and feeling push us towards certain behaviors that often are not only not useful but sometimes harmful. Learning to notice and counter these over- learned ways of behaving results in improved feelings and a life that feels more useful and valuable.
